Technical Development Program
For kids who want to take their soccer to the next level, we will continue the popular Technical Development Program throughout 2022. We will run four 10 week programs in line with the school terms, they will run on a separate night to the regular team training, further details on this program will be made available at a later date. The program is not included in the 2022 fees and serves as an extra night of advanced training for those who wish to challenge their kids a little bit more.
Which age group is best for my child?
Under 7 - Kids born in 2015
Under 8 - Kids born in 2014
Under 9 - Kids born is 2013
Under 10 - Kids born in 2012
Under 11 - Kids born in 2011
Under 12 - Kids born in 2010
Under 13 - Kids born in 2009
In 2022, we will aim to have as many kids playing in their age group as possible. Once kids reach the Under 13's, they will play 11-a-side matches on a full pitch with professional referees, but just as importantly, age limits are strictly enforced by Football Victoria (meaning no overage players allowed). If kids continue to play one year up, 13 year old boys and girls playing Under 12's would face a big jump into the Under 14's, where all of the other kids have had a year of exposure to the format. The jump from Under 12 to 13 is a big one, to go from Under 12 to Under 14 is even bigger and often leads to players leaving our game. At East Malvern we will aim to have all players playing in their own age group. There may be occasions where players need to play out of their age group, each of these cases will be assessed on a case by case basis at the discretion of the club coaches and the general manager.
We would encourage parents to volunteer as coaches (and other roles in the club) next year. If you have a background in soccer and are passionate about player development we would love for you to volunteer to become a club coach. If you are interested, please get in contact with the club email@example.com
